Enhancing employability has been of primary importance in our agenda.We wish to embed our strength specially in the area of dealing with unemployability .A special work shop was arranged for 800 youth in Hambanthota giving them a training in basic skills of enhancing employability.It was an insight to the comprehensive training we have outlined for the youth consisting of different levels catering to different types of employment.This particular program in concern was dealing with the field BPO’s.The youth were educated on the prerequisites to create a fit with individual qualifications and the available vacancies.

We belive this workshop will be the 1^st step of the stepping stone to efficient and effective employment for the youth.In which we also wish to facilitate them towards the final of cut perfection.In concern to the componant of education it becomes a part of a powerful package in enabling the youth to reach the point of self actualization.

Our Special note of appreciation extends to Ministry of Education , Microsoft and the youth who participated this program.

Carlton Marathon - Central Province

The fifth race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 was held respectively at the Gatabe grounds, Kandy on the 31st of March. Over 100 participants were present at the above event. A large number of spectators were witnessed and by far the largest number at the Carlton Marathon 2012. The marathon race on the 31st of March was dedicated to the Central Kings Carlton Super Sevens franchise. The seventh race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 will be held in the Uva province at the Buththala Dutugamunu Maha Vidyalaya grounds on the 07th of April 2012 and the race will be dedicated to the Uva Viper’s Carlton Super sevens franchise. All participants who wish to compete are invited to be present at the Buththala Dutugamunu Maha Vidyalaya grounds before 06.00am on the 07th of April.

A special thank you should be awarded to the principal sponsors of the Carlton Marathon 2012 “Laugh Gas Ltd” for the support given in making the event a success where a considerable amount of athletes benefited.

Carlton Marathon - Northern Province

The Second race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 was worked out during the weekend on the 10th of March 2012 at the Doreappa sports grounds in Jaffna. Over 100 participants attended the event and was the first instance where a participation of this magnitude was witnessed to add to this large number of participants several foreign athletes were also present at the event. The next race of Carlton Marathon 2012 will be held on the 17th of March in Sri Bodhi Ground, Gampaha. This will be the race dedicated to the Western province and we at Carlton Sports Club wish to invite all participants in the Western province to attend and participate in the above event.The Following were placed 1-10 in their respective categories.

Carlton Marathon - Sabaragamuwa Province

The fifth race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 was held in the Sabaragamuwa province on the 24th of March 2012 which commenced from Ruwanwella and was concluded at the Vincent Perera grounds. Over 200 participants were present at the above event. A large number of spectators were witnessed and by far the largest number at the Carlton Marathon 2012. The marathon race held at Ruwanwella was dedicated to the Sabaragamuwa province Carlton Super sevens franchise the Sabaragauma Stallions. The 05th & 06th races of the Carlton Marathon 2012 will be held at the Gatambe Ground,Kandy on the 31st of March and on the 01st of April 2012 in Galle Fort. All participants who wish to compete are invited to be present at the respective grounds in Kandy and Galle before 06.00am on the 31st of March and on the 01st of April.

Carlton Marathon - Western Province

The third race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 was held in the Gampaha district on the 17th of March 2012 at the Sri Bhodhi grounds. Over 200 participants were present at the above event. As a measure of entertainment a kiddie’s corner was also established in order to facilitate the children who were present at the event. The marathon race held in Gampaha was dedicated to the western province Carlton Super sevens franchise the Western Warriors. The 04th race of the Carlton Marathon 2012 will be held in Ruwanwella on the 24th of March 2012. All participants who wish to compete are invited to be present at the Ruwanwella grounds before 06.00am on the 24th of March.

The awards ceremony of the course in Practical English saw a successful finale on the 25^th of February 2012.The course is the first step of an English course offered exclusively and free of charge under a concept of the Chairman/Member of Parliament Honourable Namal Rajapaksa.In the district of Hambanthota 450 students received their certification after and extensive evaluation of assessments.The course continues with the second stage in the Advance Certificate in English.

Carlton Marathon 2012

Carlton Sports Club the sports wing of “Tharunyata Hetak” is proud to present the Carlton Marathon 2012 a series of 09 marathon race events which will be held in all nine provinces which would cover the whole Island. The races are scheduled to be held from the 03rd of March 2012 - 28th of April 2012 in the Northern, North Central, Central, Western, Sabaragamuwa, Eastern, Uva, Southern and in the North Western Provinces during the above mentioned dates. The Carlton Marathon races would be a great opportunity to all athletes in the country where they are provided a series of marathon races for them to participate.

The Carlton Super Sevens Rugby teams will also participate in their respective province races in order to create a hype. The Carlton Marathon will be the first of its kind as a series of marathon events will be held across the country in order to facilitate all the athletes around the island from South to North and East to West.

The project was headed and coordinated by the sports wing by Ronny Ibrahim, M.C Philip and Ravi Chaminda Athapaththu.

The special significance is that we have become the number one in hosting sports events in Sri Lanka. Our efforts continue and horizons grow as our aim is to help the Sri Lankan youth to travel to the global forum.

The event is open to the public and the entrance is free of charge, most of the competitions are open to the public. We believe that the event will provide economical benefits to the area as it will include stall which will generate income for the public. The experience can be viewed and enjoyed by families which would be a rare opportunity for Hambanthota youth which can only be experienced once year.
